Blick und Bremen

Back in 2016, practically 2017, Brian Fillis and I did one of our little German sojourns, kicking off in Berlin (natch!) then Wuppertal and ending up in Bremen for New Year (Sylvester!)

At some point we ended up at the wonderful modernist stylings of Emma am See in the park for a leisurely lunch during our trip.

We had a great lunch from their offer of flammkuchen, clearly something of a German trend at the time even though it has nothing to do with the cuisine of the region. And he went on to assault the dessert trolley while I stayed with the particularly good house Riesling...

I'm not going to go into all the childhood connections as to why it was so good to be back after many decades. But it was.

This was one of the nicest New Year trips I have been on of many. And all the better for it being with Brian who has, frankly, always been someone I can count on to embrace a new year even though neither he nor I love the hype around "New Year".
